Retail in the Gumenick community continues to grow with specialty eye care clinic
HENRICO CO., VA., April 10, 2020 – Henrico-based Gumenick Properties is pleased to announce that Capital Eye Care, a specialty eye care shop, has leased approximately 3,400 square feet in the Penstock Quarter building located at 5001 Libbie Mill East Blvd, adding to the growing list of retail services moving to Libbie Mill – Midtown. Peter Vick and Harrison Hall of Colliers International represented Gumenick and Julian Ottley with Ottley Properties represented Capital Eye Care.
The Richmond based Capital Eye Care was founded in 2003 by Dr. Jennifer Bergvall and Dr. Adam Herold, and currently operates in a location at 4911 West Broad Street in Henrico. Capital Eye Care offers full-service eye care in a convenient location. The company offers glasses and eyewear, routine vision care, as well as children’s vision care. Services are available by appointment, however, walk ins are available for eyewear services.
“Capital Eye Care will be a wonderful complement to the growing number of lifestyle services available for the active, modern Libbie Mill – Midtown,” states Skip Nash, Gumenick Properties’ vice president of property management. “This new addition to our community offers a convenient solution for all area residents and visitors’ eye care needs.”
In addition to Capital Eye Care, progress continues at Libbie Mill – Midtown with construction underway of Wellsmith Apartments, a 349-unit apartment community, projected to open in Fall 2021. Construction is also underway on the Corner Shops at Libbie Mill – Midtown, located at the Staples Mill Rd and Bethlehem Rd corner of the development. Starbucks Coffee has leased 2,490 square feet in that building and plans to open in Fall 2020. Gumenick is currently working with Henrico County on an expansion to Bethlehem Road at the Staples Mill traffic light that will ease traffic congestion in the area. In addition, Lumber Liquidators opened their flagship headquarters at the mixed-use development in Q4 2019. Penstock Quarter Apartments, the first rental offering at the community, has reached stabilized occupancy in line with expectations. Sales remain strong in the for-sale townhome/condo offerings at The Neighborhood of Libbie Mill-Midtown. The completion of the clubhouse at the for-sale community is anticipated in May 2020. Gumenick Properties’ plans to make Libbie Mill – Midtown the anchor to the growing midtown community.
